Dr. Hwai-Chung Ho, Dr. Shu-Yen Ho and Dr. Xiao-Li Meng
Hwai-Chung Ho, Academia Sinica and National Taiwan University
Dr. Ho is Research Fellow of the Institute of Statistical Science, Academia Sinica, and Professor of the Department of Finance, National Taiwan University. He was a co-editor of Statistica Sinica from 2002 to 2005. While serving as the managing editor of Statistica Sinica from 1999 to 2002, his effort directly resulted in the Journal being indexed by the database Science Citation Index. From 1999 to 2001, Dr. Ho was also the editor of the Journal of the Chinese Statistical Association, the official journal of the Statistical Association of Taiwan. In 1996, as a founding council member. Dr. Ho helped establish the Chinese Institute of Probability and Statistics, a learned society of probability and mathematical statistics in Taiwan. Dr. Ho served as member (1998 to 1999) and chairman (1999 to 2001) of the Statistics Review Panel at the National Science Council of Taiwan. Dr. Ho’s research work appeared in many major journals which include Annals of Probability, Annals of Statistics, Statistica Sinica, Bernoulli, Stochastic Processes and their Applications, Journal of Applied Probability, Journal of Multivariate Analysis, Journal of Time Series Analysis and Journal of Theoretical Probability.
Shu-Yen Ho, GlaxoSmithKline
Dr. Shuyen Ho is a director of Statistics and Programming group in Respiratory therapeutic area at GlaxoSmithKline based at Research Triangle Park in North Carolina. Prior to GSK, he worked at Schering-Plough for a number of years. Dr. Ho has been a member of ICSA since he started his career in 1990. He is currently serving ICSA as the Program Committee Chair. Last year, Dr. Ho co-organized the 2007 ICSA Symposium in Raleigh, North Carolina, from which ICSA received the biggest surplus. During 2003 to 2005, he served as a member of the ICSA Board of Directors. Dr. Ho has organized and chaired sessions, as well as presented talks in various ICSA Applied Statistics symposia.
Xiao-Li Meng, Harvard University
Xiao-Li Meng is the Whipple V. N. Jones Professor of Statistics and Chair of the Department of Statistics at Harvard University. He is also the co-editor of Statistica Sinica. He was the recipient of the 2001 COPSS (Committee of Presidents of Statistical Societies) Award for “The outstanding statistician under the age of forty”, of the 2003 Distinguished Achievement Award from the International Chinese Statistics Association, and of the 1997-1998 University of Chicago Faculty Award for Excellence in Graduate Teaching. His degrees include BS (Fudan Mathematics Department, 1982), Master of Science Diploma (Fudan Mathematics Institute, 1986), Master of Art (Harvard Statistics, 1987), and Ph.D. (Harvard Statistics, 1990). He taught at The University of Chicago from 1991-2001 before joining Harvard University. He has served on editorial boards for leading statistical journals such as The Annals of Statistics, Biometrika, Journal of The American Statistical Association, and Bernoulli. He has served on numerous national and international professional committees, including chairing the 2004 Joint Statistical Meetings, and the Committee on Meetings of American Statistical Association (ASA). He is also an elected fellow of ASA and of Institute of Mathematical Statistics.
