ICSA 2010 Meeting and Announcement
The Eighth ICSA International Conference: Frontiers of Interdisciplinary and Methodological Statistical Research
Call for Contributed Papers
The 8th ICSA International Conference will be held at Guangzhou University, China on December 19-22, 2010. Guangzhou University is located in Guangzhou city in Guangdong Province in Southern China.
This conference is co-sponsored by the American Statistical Association, the Chinese Association of Applied Statistics, the Chinese Society of Probability and Statistics, and the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, and International Society for Bayesian Analysis (ISBA), and jointly organized by the College of Mathematics and Information Science, Guangzhou University.
The program committee would like to invite contributed papers from the international statistics community. A submission should include a title, an abstract, and contact information (affiliation, position, email and fax) in English. Priorities will be given to submissions on topics related to the theme of the conference.
Submissions should be in pdf files and sent via email by September 1, 2010 to oicsa@icsa.org with "ICSA 2010 Int Conf Contributed Paper Submission" in the subject line.

Awards and News
Dr. Karl Peace was elected Chair Elect of the Statistics Section American Public Health Association (APHA)
The term is for three years during which he will serve as Chair Elect in 2009/2010, Chair in 2010/2011 and Past Chair in 2011/2012. As Chair Elect he will be responsible for the Statistics Section contribution to the 2010 Annual APHA Meeting.

Dr. Karl E. Peace was honored on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives
Dr. Karl E. Peace was honored on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives for his numerous professional and charitable contributions. Peace was honored Sept. 8, 2009 by Rep. Robert Wittman (R-VA) who cited Peace’s numerous contributions to drug research and development, public health, biostatistics and philanthropy. Wittman said, “Dr. Peace has a dedicated record of philanthropy to education. He has created twenty-one endowments at five institutions including three at his alma mater, the Medical College of Virginia and one at Randolph-Macon College. He endowed the Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health, the first school of public health in the University of Georgia System."
